On 8/27/26 J contacted me via text asking if I could recover an important PDF from his wife’s computer. We set up a special appointment for Saturday.

“I can try” — three of the most honest words a competent PC tech can offer a client.

2:00 PM J&B drop off her MacBook and explain the PDF situation. It's a textbook with thousands of annotations. It's over two years of work. Gone in an instant. Tried to save the file and it went from 1GB+ to 3MB. Poof. Just gone.

3:18 PM I text them, "I have figured out why this happened."

9:24 PM I text them again, "I have successfully recovered your file. Annotations intact. And I know exactly what happened and why."

11:00 PM J&B left my office with smiles on their faces. Files intact. Better data backup practices in mind.
